THE DESIGNER
Born in Paris, France, Catherine Vicente spent five years in the public relations department of the Paris National Opera while pursuing her studies in modern literature. Passionate about travel and sailing, she explored the seas and oceans—from the Atlantic to the Caribbean, and from the Mediterranean to the Pacific—before falling madly in love with French Polynesia and deciding to spend many years sharing her time between Paris and French Polynesia. A beautiful love story and a child later, she became a freelance writer and editor for a publishing house in Tahiti, while also participating in numerous cultural events in Tahiti, New York, and Nouméa.
Subsequently, she spent six years contributing to the writing and editing of numerous travel books—covering destinations from Tahiti to London, Bali to New York—for the Gallimard publishing house in Paris.
FROM PARIS TO OVERSEAS
As a privileged witness with a deep appreciation for Polynesian culture, biodiversity in the Pacific, and cultured pearls, she began designing her first handcrafted pieces—jewelry and accessories—while working in publishing. Her writing and her creations complement one another, blending creativity with her passions: the sea, travel, Polynesia, the elsewhere, and Paris.
Between 2014 and 2017, she studied jewellery design and jewellery making at a prestigious Parisian school in the heart of the capital, then launched two brands: Tahatai® for jewellery and Paris Overseas® for home decor and accessories.
In 2018, the website www.parisoverseas.com and its online store were launched to showcase the creations of both brands, as well as to develop and expand their collections.
TODAY
Following its first in-home private sales, and as soon as the COVID-19 crisis subsided, Paris Overseas organized its first exhibition and sale at the CMA pop-up store in May 2021, followed by two sales per year, and began participating in artisan markets and sales events.
In 2025, the Paris Overseas team undertook a complete redesign of the website www.parisoverseas.com.
Today, Paris Overseas welcomes you in Paris for its two annual sales at the Chambre des Métiers de l’Artisanat pop-up store in May and December, and for the first time this year at the Notre-Dame Christmas Market.
